Arvind Ganga

Combining an explorative mind with an obsession for raw sound, Dutch guitar player Arvind Ganga creates an intense sonic experience that is simultaneously abstract, psychedelic, noisey, and spiritual. Physical manual creation is crucial to his approach, where he wrenches the sounds out of his guitar using his bare hands, improper techniques, a bunch of objects and a simple reverse effect. With free improvisation he throws them back together into a pulsating universe that is uniquely his own. Ethereal noise with a punk-improv attitude.

Arvind plays solo, in the duos Two Rivers (with Leo Svirsky on accordeon), tzZiiiY (performance with Maria Mavridou), Arvind Ganga & Riccardo Marogna (with Riccardo on saxophone), Juzaga (with Philipp Ernsting on drums) and Gangpad (electro-acoustics with Manuel Padding), and the quartet Help Me To Crash (with movement/performance artists Maria Mavridou and Malgorzata Haduch, and video artist Roman Zotter). His music took him to play squats, galleries, clubs and festivals from Poland to Portugal, England to Slovenia, Turkey, Thailand, Myanmar, Chile and Perú.

Notable places Arvind played include Supernormal Festival, Incubate Festival, Le Guess Who?, Mózg, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, OCCII, Worm, Paard. His music is released on Econore (DE), Flaming Pines (AUS), Toztizok Zoundz (NL), Gonzo Circus (be), Silver Ghosts (NL). A cd with Riccardo Marogna is forthcoming in 2021 on A New Wave of Jazz.

An active member of the Den Haag DIY scene, Arvind has been organizing concerts for over ten years in autonomous places like SCSI Cell, Villa Te Koop and Villa K. Currently he runs the Myriads concert series at Helicopter, which hosted over 80 different acts, combining local upcoming talent with well established acts from all over Europe, the Americas, and Asia. He is a self-taught guitar player and holds an MSc in Computer Science from Delft University of Technology.
